Crooked Tree and Queen Anne's Lace

I’d looked out at these woods from my kitchen sink countless times and somehow never really saw this tree. That is ... until I went searching for a crooked one. Once I noticed it, I absolutely fell in love with its elegant twists and knobby bends.

In this painting, I focused on capturing the pale green shimmer of morning summer sunlight filtering through leaves, with ferns, wildflowers, and fungi emerging in the understory.

This painting is a meditation on starting fresh with herbs that support what we need in times of transition.
My paintings explore the possible relationship between humans and the plants that accompanied us through history. Herbs like lemongrass, orange blossom, mint, thyme, and lemon verbena were once everyday companions used for cleansing, medicine, and just for the appreciation of their beauty.

Medicine for House Blessing

This painting is a meditation on tending to the spaces where we dwell. Across cultures, house blessings weave together simple acts like cleaning, lighting a candle, ringing a bell, or burning herbs to control how a space feels and invite peace, protection, and belonging.
The plants in this piece: chamomile, flowering mint, lavender, cottage roses, and rose hips, have long been companions in that work. Their presence reminds us that creating the sacred can be as humble as opening a window, breathing deeply, and letting light return to familiar corners.
